A Letter To My Daughters

My sweet girls,

How has a whole month of summer already flown by?!  I guess the old saying about time flying by when you're having fun must be true.  We've had a wonderful last few weeks!  We spent most of our days at the pool for Chloe's swim team practices and swimming with friends afterward! We have a lot of good friends in our neighborhood and a neighborhood with a lot of activities going on - we are very blessed to live where we do!

Grammie and Cool Pop took us to the aquarium one afternoon.  You both loved it!  Your favorite part was the dolphin show.  It was the first one you've both seen and you both left the aquarium saying you wanted to be "swimmers" when you grow up so you can swim with dolphins :)

We just got back from a week at the Greenbrier with Grammie, Cool Pop, Uncle Chad, Aunt Amy and Uncle Taylor.  It was so nice to spend a whole week together doing fun activities!  You visited a stable and fed animals, rode a horse, went bowling, played laser tag, played croquet, went swimming, did arts & crafts at a day camp, and you loved it all!    We had beautiful weather while we were there.  One evening you stayed outside trying to catch fireflies in a jar.  It was your first time catching them and you thought that was really neat!

We have another fun month ahead!  We get to go to the lake for a few days, and to the beach for a few days!  You are both already talking about riding on a boat, building sand castles, and playing in the ocean!  We have a lot to look forward to in these next few weeks before school starts up again!

I love you both,
Mommy

A Letter To My Daughters

My sweet girls,

It has been a few months since I've written on our blog, and I've really missed keeping up with it. The last few months have been crazy busy with school, holidays, and everything in between.  This last month was even crazier with all the "end of school year" activities, birthdays, Mother's Day, soccer, swim lessons, art classes, swim team practices every day, and more!!  While it has all been great things, I think we have all been ready for a more relaxed summer schedule :)

Chloe, I cannot believe you have already finished Kindergarten!!  It seems like yesterday that we were registering you and taking you on a tour of our elementary school.  I am so very proud of you.  Over the last few months, you have learned to read, you are learning to write, you are identifying parts of a story and writing your own little short stories, you are adding and subtracting, you are maturing and you are becoming such a little lady!

Madeline, you breezed right through this year of preschool!  You went to school and left school every single day with a huge smile on your face!  Everyone at school always told me how happy you were each day - you are such a little light! You know all your colors, shapes, alphabet, and you have really grown a love for reading books with Mommy and Daddy.  When you were younger, you were always too busy for that, but I'm happy to say that it looks like we may have another little book lover on our hands :)

So far, our daily summer routine has been going to the pool for Chloe's swim team practice in the mornings, and then having lunch and playing at the pool for a couple of hours afterward.  You both really love the water! Chloe, you are jumping in the pool and swimming on your own now (you were very fearful of this last year), and we are so proud of you!  Madeline, we are working on getting you out of your puddle jumper for a few minutes each day..I know you'll be swimming before we know it!   You have always been a little more fearless than your sister ;)

Daddy and I took you both to the river for the first time last weekend and we had so much fun.  I took so many pictures and have only edited a couple of them so far.  You both brought a notebook, a pen, and a magnifying glass, and recorded everything we saw on our excursion...everything from rocks, to leaves, to ants and spiders!   The highlight was Daddy carrying you across the river to some big rocks that you could play on.  It wasn't long before we were all up to our knees in the water.  I think you would have both been swimming in it if the water hadn't been so cold!!

I'm so excited for the next couple of months.  It will be nice to go on a couple of trips as a family, and just spend time lots of time with the both of you before school starts back up in early August.  I know this summer is going to fly by!

I love you!!
Mommy :)
